Creating and Managing Research Guides

Creating Guides, Tabs, and Blocks

  1. From the Dashboard, click Research Guides
  2. Click + Add Research Guide
  3. In the window that opens, complete the fields
    1. Title - enter a name for the research guide
    2. Type - select a filter term from the drop-down
    3. Subject - select one or more filter terms from the subject list
      1. To select multiple terms
        1. macOS - hold the cmd key and click the term(s)
        2. windows - press and hold the ctrl key and click the term(s)
    4. In the Tab section:
      1. Title - this will be used as the Tab label
      2. URL Alias -  this can be used to easily link to the tab
      3. Click the drop-down beside Block to add a new or existing guide block
        1. To add New
          1. Click Add new research guide block
            1. Title - enter a title for the guide block
            2. Body - add the guide content into the body field
          2. Click Create research guide to save your block
        2. To add an existing Research Guide block
          1. Click Add existing research guide block 
          2. In the Research guide block field, enter the title of an existing research guide block, then click the title once found
          3. Click Add research guide block
      4. To add additional Research guide tabs
        1. Click Add research guide tab and repeat the steps described above
  4. Link existing research guides by typing the title of the research guide; add additional related guides by clicking the add another item and repeating this step
  5. Review and configure the Publishing workflow as needed
  6. Click Save

Searching for the Guide

  1. From the Dashboard, click Research Guide
  2. Find the guide to edit by:
    1. Browsing the list; OR
    2. Searching the guide by name

Editing Guides

Once found, under the Operations column,

  1. Click Edit
    1. Make any desired edits, including modifying the publishing workflow as needed
      1. If editing a research guide block, once the modifications are complete (including the title), click Update research guide block; otherwise click Save
    2. To Remove a guide tab or guide block
      1. Click the ellipsis (3 vertical dots) to the right of the tab name
        1. Click Remove
          1. A confirmation window will appear asking if you wish to remove the tab, click Remove
    3. To remove a guide block
      1. Click Remove under the block you wish to remove
      2. Click Save

Searching for the Guide

  1. From the Dashboard, click Research Guide
  2. Find the guide to edit by:
    1. Browsing the list; OR
    2. Searching the guide by name

Deleting

  1. To Delete
    1. Click the drop-down arrow, then click Delete
      1. A confirmation window will appear
        1. Click Delete to continue; OR
        2. Click Cancel to cancel the deletion and return to the list of guides

Pop-up Alert

This is where a pop-up alert will appear.
